GISD middle schoolers Gustavo Mondragon, Isabella Martinez and Daniel Muniz were among
a select group to participate in the Student Leadership Strand at AVID’s Dallas Summer Institute.
They were selected from numerous candidates at National Demonstration Schools across the
Metroplex.

Salvador Estrada, Renata Garcia, Deisy Hermida, Chris Johnson, David Moreno and Jessica Olvera recently claimed
the highest honor awarded by the Texas Art Education Association—a Gold Seal at the state Visual Arts Scholastic Event.
Their artwork will now be featured in a traveling exhibit that makes stops across Texas at prestigious places such as the
state Capitol building.
