Food
options &
lunch price to increase
Student Nutrition Services (SNS)
has revamped breakfast and
lunch options to satisfy appetite
and nourishment needs this year.
Students can expect to see expanded
menus that include turkey chorizo
breakfast burritos, turkey sausage
pancake bites, yogurt dippers,
Bagel-fuls®, spinach and cheese
flatbread, peppy pizza pasta, and
sweet Asian teriyaki chicken and rice.
Additionally, Breakfast in the
Classroom will expand to four new
schools, bringing the total number of
participating campuses to 23. Cooper,
Northlake and Shugart elementaries,
as well as Lyles Middle School,
will soon debut the free breakfast
program.
SNS will also implement its Snack
Pack breakfast cart at every middle
and high school. Piloted at four
campuses last spring, the mobile
food cart reached students who did
not typically eat breakfast on campus.
“The cart will not replace the usual
cafeteria breakfast,” said Assistant
Director of Nutrition and Menu
Operations Jennifer Craig. “It will
simply provide an additional service
location with a ‘grab-n-go’ breakfast
for those who do not have time to eat
a cafeteria-provided breakfast daily.”
Students who pay full price for
meals should note that the cost of
lunch will increase to $2.75, a 5-cent
difference . Breakfasts will remain
at $1.50 and premium lunches at
$3.50. Students who receive free
or reduced-price benefits will not
see a difference, but must submit
an application every year. Only one
application is required for each
family.

items, and see nutritional
