Tackling GENDER IMBALANCE
Cutting edge
CoderDojo
After watching the inspirational
#ThisAyrshireGirlCan film featuring young
women excelling in male-dominated areas,
primary school girls couldn’t wait to get to work
at an exclusive CoderDojo Coding Club set up
just for them.
Once the pupils had finished at the ‘Selfie Station’
with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP, they
piled onto the computers at Kilwinning and got to
coding!
CoderDojo is a programming club for 7-17
year olds where they learn how to code,
develop websites, apps, programs, games and
explore technology in an informal and creative
environment.
Over 500 young people across
Ayrshire have taken part in
clubs run by the College
since November 2014.
It was excellent to see
the primary school pupils
brimming with enthusiasm
as they worked on the
CoderDojo computing
tasks.
