Tiny Homes
Fighting
Big Issues
One city’s government is
offering to build tiny homes
in homeowners' backyards to
help combat homelessness.
Share Your Space
Brooklyn-based program offers shared housing options
where professionals can live and work in unity.
Common, a co-living space based out of NYC, is creating access to community
and amenities for those interested in living downtown. For professionals who want
to live and work in the city while building relationships through shared spaces, this
is a great arrangement. The houses come fully furnished, sleep anywhere from
19–50 people, and can be rented starting at $1,500 a month with utilities included.
Enjoy events from potlucks to book clubs as you become friends and experience
life with a new group of individuals. Convenience and community are the two
pillars that position this groundbreaking take on communal living and help to
challenge the conventional.
Many cities have a homeless
population they wish to help, and
everyone deserves a comfortable
living arrangement. Fortunately
Portland, Ore. may have an inno-
vative solution. The city is now
helping to move families from
shelters to tiny homes in an effort
to reduce the rise in homelessness.
Current homeowners can receive
a free tiny home—built on their
property—if they allow a homeless
family to live there for five years.
Then they can rent out the house
or use it as they wish at no cost.
The purpose of this project is to
help prevent families from staying
in shelters for extended periods of
time. Local government officials
hope to create strong ties among
current residents and lower income
families and single parents through
this novel initiative.
Drones are adding a dash of innovation at home and in
recreational settings, but before you know it these high-powered tech
advancements may become your new favorite office companion.
DRONE
DISCOVERY
HERE’S WHAT TO ANTICIPATE WITH THE FUTURE OF DRONES
IN THE WORKPLACE:
Autonomous drones—like the Parrot Bebop 2—can navigate
themselves. This means as they continue to advance in skill and
increase in popularity, you can anticipate the arrival of coffee or
printed materials delivered directly to your desk so you can optimize
office productivity.
Drones also have the ability to cut down on the physical side of
document sharing by tackling things like server monitoring—which
could eventually lead to live video feeds from locations across the
globe—allowing you to receive and view updates in real time. Drones
are something to look out for as they continue to develop
and make their way into office settings.
