Chri s t m a s Wr e a th o f L o veby D otty Do ve With Christmas fast approaching I always try to think of a new and fun way to decorate my home with a little bit of festive fabric – and like to make something that isn’t too high tech so that you can get your little ones involved if you fancy. Here is a way you can make your very own festive wreath in a very simple and relatively cheap way in a couple of hours or so. You will need ... One. Your ribbon and fabric stash (cut into shortish strips of about 10 to 15cm) You could even up-cycle some fabrics from pre-loved items of clothing from your little ones here to add that personal touch if you like. Two. a florist wreath wire a bit like below. (You can get them in all sorts of sizes and they are available online and in hardware shops and are inexpensive). non- festive fabrics (here is a great time to get the kids involved – they can pick and choose which fabrics you should use next and take up the role as assistant!). Packing the knots in tight together is my top tip- more is definitely more in this case. You need to tie knots onto all of the “cross wires” as well as the inside and outside wires. This means that there is a lot of fabric used up here, but I like to use all those little strips of fabric that would have otherwise been thrown out! When you are happy with the overall look and of the density of the fabrics trim off any that seem a little unkempt and attach a little ribbon to the top that you can hang it from. Pop your new unique festive wreath on a hook on the wall or the door and there you go – stand back, admire your work and enjoy the compliments you are bound to receive from any visitors you have over the festive period.
