Expanding Cape Coral’s Utilities BY LAURA SHAY, ROYAL PALM COAST REALTOR ® ASSOCIATION If you haven’t already heard, the next phase of the Utilities Expansion Project is getting underway. This phase, North 2, is located in the northwest and northeast quadrants of Cape Coral. In the map below, you’ll see the area of North 2 highlighted by the darker pink color north of Pine Island Road. The UEP construction is bringing new, important infrastructure to the City of Cape Coral, establishing and maintaining reliable utility service to the city’s residents. The project brings new drinking water lines, sewer lines, and irrigation lines to parts of the city that did not have them before. City Council found the massive undertaking to be necessary for future city growth. The expansion was initially divided into 14 contracts to give local businesses the chance to bid on parts of the project. The goal for the North 2 phase is to have it complete by August 2019. If you have questions about the project, you can visit www.capecoral.net/uep or call the city’s information center by dialing 311.
