1- Read the following description and solve the activities.
Luisa Calcumil is a Mapuche actress
and singer. She was born in 1945 in
Fishke Menuko, now known as General Roca. She is one of the most famous actresses in Mapuche culture.
Together with Aime Paine, a beautiful
and talented Mapuche singer who
died in 1987, Luisa Calcumil is one of
the precursors in the recovery of Mapuche language and mystic culture. She started studying theatre in
her 20s’. She wrote many plays and then she acted in them.
She is a determined and strong woman. Her eyes burn like
fire and she can speak the melodious language of her ancestors.
Her splendorous thick long black hair shines like the sun and tells
the story of her culture. In her songs and plays she describes the
cruel discrimination and acculturation suffered by her people. She
has also filmed various well known and prestigious movies such as
“Geronima”, “La nave de los locos” and “Amor a America” among
others. She is an outstanding and unique figure in Mapuche culture
who has even shared the stage with singers like Mercedes Sosa.
