CI News, Fall 2013 CI News, Fall 2013 Confucius Classroom at Saint Augustine’s University Chinese Instructor: Mrs. Tianlu Jia Redmon H osted a Residence Life Global Learning Training ???????????? Global Learning Training is a yearly training activity conducted with residential life staff to ensure that they have the intercultural and interpersonal skills and training to assist students with daily life. It is important that staff demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an open minded to differences and diversity. Global Learning Training ensures that our institution is functioning to constantly support an ever changing residential campus population. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????? ???? ???????????? ??????? ??????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ??????????????? H osted a Confucius Classroom orientation for Freshmen ????? ??????? During the Confucius Class Orientation we expose freshmen to Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture. We understand that students that are exposed early are more likely to get and stay engaged. Students were not aware that we even had a Confucius Classroom and were pleasantly surprised. They appreciated the information and are looking forward to programming throughout the coming year. ????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ?????????????????????? ????????????? H osted a Confucius Classroom/Study Abroad Informational Session with Academic Achievers ? “???????” ???????????????? Academic Achievers is a university programs which utilizes student scholars to provide enrichment activities on campus. They participate in various programs but also are exposed to wonderful scholarly opportunities themselves. Students were presented with information about the Confucius Classroom and the Study Abroad and encouraged to consider the benefits of programs. Students were excited and engaged. They wanted to know how they could participate and also the benefits of both programs. Students were told of competitiveness that they receive as participants in both programs because of the skills that are acquired. Additionally, were encouraged to let others know about these wonderful opportunities. “?????” ??????? ????????????????????????????????? ? ????????????????? ??? ???? ?????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ? P articipated in the Young Professional Network Seminar ????????????? Met with other young professionals to network and provide additional opportunities for our students. Saint Augustine’s University welcomes a new Adjunct Professor of Chinese - Mrs. Tianlu Jia Redmon. Tianlu received her Masters Degree from St. John’s College and has taught at local Chinese Language Schools.
