The conference was organised by Conference Ambassador Professor Peter Mossey, from Dundee University Dental School. He says that, in the past, delegates arriving in Edinburgh could be frustrated knowing they still have to get to Dundee.“ Now the addition of new direct flight routes, including links with Stansted and Amsterdam( which connects to one of the world’ s largest hubs), means the city is now well connected internationally.
Delegates also attended a civic dinner in the McManus Gallery. world-changing projects are conceived by academics and business people’ s expertise. Event organisers recognise that by hosting their events here they can develop connections with these world-class thinkers and business leaders.” Dundee city centre is undergoing transformational infrastructural change and there is a resultant step change in Dundee’ s confidence, which is evident city-wide. It’ s not just the V & A Dundee development which is breathing new design-led life into the city of jute. The £ 1bn transformation of the Waterfront is the third largest regeneration project in the UK. Work also continues on the redevelopment of Dundee railway station, the location of Scotland’ s first Sleeperz Hotels.“ Our newest city centre hotel Hampton by Hilton, with 105 bedrooms and flexible meeting space for 50 delegates, opens its doors early 2017 and is already taking bookings,” adds Tocher, noting it is close to both the airport and the train station. There are now daily flights from Amsterdam to Dundee and, together with the Stansted route, it has helped open up the city to more delegates. CN
