The Sir Walter Scott Suite (350sqm) overlooks the Sir Walter Scott monument, the largest dedicated to a writer in the world. It makes a statement with intricate gilding that complements the dark and light greens of the patterned carpet. The ‘Blackberry’ wallpaper, designed by Neisha Crosland, adds depth and interest to the space. The striking Edinburgh mural on the back wall, meanwhile, continues the theme of bringing the outside inside. Expansion plans for Leonardo The MD of the Leonardo Hotels Europe has outlined plans to press ahead with expansion in Scotland. Daniel Roger, MD, says the company is focused on its strategy to create a strong portfolio across Europe. The hotel group – which opened Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh as its flagship Scottish hotel after a £7m refurbishment earlier this year - has now taken over Portland Hotels, adding five more locations across Scotland. The new Leonardo Hotels in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Perth take its number of properties to 85, Roger said: “This plan underlines our latest coup, which is the takeover of Portland Hotels with five properties in Scotland; expanding to include two hotels in Edinburgh as well others in Glasgow, Perth and Aberdeen.” www.conference-news.co.uk Stirling Highland Hotel The Stirling Highland Hotel, part of The Cairn Collection, is a 4-star property located in the heart of the city of Stirling. The 96-bed Victorian hotel is a short walk from Stirling Castle and the city centre. Delegates can dine at on-site restaurant, The Scholars, which serves an a la carte menu. Trump Turnberry Located in South Ayrshire, is Trump Turnberry, a Luxury Collection Resort. Just one hour from Glasgow airport and two hours from Edinburgh, its coastal destination makes it the perfect location to spark imaginations and creativity. Trump Turnberry has recently undergone a multimillion pound renovation, which has seen each of the hotel bedrooms and bathrooms refurbished to the highest of standards. The hotel goes hand-in-hand with golf, with the 18-hole course a popular choice for incentive travellers. On the menu Ninety-two per cent of visitors dine out when visiting Scotland. In a recent survey, Scottish Beef tops the list of Scottish food for its appeal, with 60% of consumers preferring beef over Scottish salmon (51%), porridge oats (40%), haggis (27%) and berries (27%). The research also revealed that 57% most look forward to having tea at a local café, while 56% said that eating fish and chips outside particularly appealed to them during a holiday.
