technology and science
descend upon Manchester
Central for IP EXPO Manchester,
part of Europe’s number one
enterprise IT event series.
Launched by organisers Imago
Techmedia in 2015, the event is
designed for those looking to find
out how the latest IT innovations
can drive and support their
business and transition to a digital
future.
2018 was another record year
for IP EXPO Manchester. The event
saw over 6,500 delegates pass
through the doors across two
days. Delegates had access to
over 100 exhibitors and over 100
exclusive seminar sessions,
including keynote talks from
former GCHQ director Robert
Hannigan, the man credited with
drawing up the UK’s first Cyber
Security Strategy, and Dr Hannah
Fry the mathematician best known
for her work on a range of BBC
documentaries and her
long-running BBC Radio 4 podcast,
The Curious Cases of Rutherford
and Fry.
Bradley Maule-ffinch, director of
strategy for IP Expo Event Series
explained why Manchester and
Manchester Central was an
obvious choice when it came to
hosting their event:
“Manchester is one of the major
tech hubs in the UK, indeed some
of the brightest minds in the
industry have come from the city.
When we decided to bring IP EXPO
to the north, Manchester was an
obvious choice. We chose
Manchester Central as the home
for our event initially due to its
central location in the city, making
it easy for our exhibitors, speakers
and delegates from across the
globe to visit.

Case study:
IT’s Central on the agenda
Manchester is a technology hub, and the city’s biggest
venue is no stranger to taking care of it
“Over the years Manchester
Central continues to be the
perfect choice for our event. Whilst
the central location is still key, the
light airy nature of the building
makes it comfortable for
delegates visiting and the
Manchester Central team are
always a fantastic help in making
sure our event is a success year
after year. We’re really looking
forward to returning to Manchester
Central with the event next year.”
Shaun Hinds, CEO, said: “There’s
always a real buzz around the
venue when we host IP Expo and
we’re proud to host some of the
biggest names in technology and
science. As a venue with
innovation at its heart, we relish
www.conference-news.co.uk
the opportunity to work with event
organisers who are right at the
cutting edge of their industry.
“IP Expo is by far the biggest
event that we hold in terms of
technological requirements and
gives us the opportunity to
demonstrate why we’ve won
awards for being an innovative and
tech friendly venue. This year we
had around 1,300 concurrent
devices connected to our system,
which only used a third of our
available bandwidth.
“Event organisers are placing a
growing importance on the
capabilities of venue tech and
we’re continuing to invest in
systems to support whatever
requirements they may have”.
