CN Agency Awards 3
That’s showbiz
don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed the CN
Agency Awards when they took place at Café de Paris
on 21 March.
Speak to non-events people, when you explain that you work
in the conference and meetings industry, usually they
envisage a grey, stuffy room full of people in grey suits, dosing
off in front of a grey pie chart being presented by John Major.
How wrong they are.
That’s why we chose Café de Paris as our venue for the
awards, and The Greatest Showman as the theme for the
entertainment. I think you’ll agree, it was fantastic.
The conference and meetings world isn’t a bowl of grey
porridge; it’s a colourful, diverse, and creative sector, and all
made possible thanks to the innovation and enthusiasm of
the agency sector.
Launching an awards event is never an easy exercise. The
lingering anxiety over whether or not anyone will enter
together with the risk of upsetting those who don’t win is
enough to put most people off. But we did it, and we couldn’t
have done it without the help of our partners at the NEC. They
have been tremendously supportive of what we are trying to
do to shine a light on the talent in the agency sector and we
couldn’t be more grateful.
Of course, without the agencies themselves it would have
been a jolly lonely afternoon and we were thrilled that more
than 220 turned up for the event. To those that didn’t pick up
an award in 2019, we hope that you won’t be deterred from
entering again in 2020 and we wish you the very best of luck.
And the winners? Well, flick through this supplement to meet
them.
