Liverpool’s vision ahead
018 is an exciting
year for Liverpool as
the city prepares to
welcome some
fantastic global
events.
The Osteoarthritis Research
Society International (OARSI)
World Congress, Uniglobal,
International Business Festival,
Labour Party Conference and
Global Symposium on Health
Systems Research are just a
few of the of the conferences
taking place. They alone will
collectively bring almost
50,000 delegates to the city.
It’s hardly surprising, with
Liverpool’s strong industry
strengths in Health and Life
Science, Manufacturing and
Engineering, Maritime, Creative
and Digital and Finance, that
decision-makers are choosing
the city as the base for their
major events. Liverpool’s
support and proven track
record in growing events makes
the prospect even more
enticing.
One conference that
demonstrates this growth was
digital manufacturing’s largest
event ‘The Manufacturer Live’,
which relocated from
Birmingham to Liverpool (Oct.
2017) after 14 years. The event
grew from being the UK’s
biggest manufacturing event to
Europe’s largest overnight.
Nick Hussey, CEO of the
Manufacturer magazine and
the event said of the move:
“The decision to make
Liverpool City Region the new
home of Digital Manufacturing
Week was down to a
combination of factors
including the city’s
manufacturing credentials,
passion for innovation and the
regional partners’ enthusiasm
and help in hosting and
promoting the event.
“Relocating to Liverpool was
undoubtedly the right decision
and has been a further catalyst
for growth – and we saw a
doubling in size for both our
flagship Leaders Conference
and the Smart Factory Expo.”
But it’s not just the events
themselves; with organisers
increasingly looking to provide
an experience, Liverpool’s
compact city really comes in to
www.conference-news.co.uk
its own this year. It is an
exciting time, as the city
celebrates it culture and
creativity 10 years on from
winning European Capital of
Culture.
Just a snapshot of what to
expect includes the
world-famous Terracotta
Warriors, Tate at 30, The
Randox Grand National, The
Clothes Show and Liverpool
Biennial.
There really is no better year
to bring your events to
Liverpool, where delegates will
experience a kaleidoscope of
art, music, theatre, technology,
style and sport, as Liverpool’s
signature mix of creative
risk-taking and magical
happenings take the stage.
