Culture has been a part of Manchester ’ s DNA for generations . As a city renowned for its music scene , contribution to literature and creative edge that makes it so unique , it ’ s safe to say that culture is engrained in Manchester . As a UNESCO City of Literature and the birthplace of many icons in the creative world , Manchester has undeniably built a name for itself as a creative hub over the years . Hosting such iconic events means the city must keep up with the exponential growth , and Manchester is consistently investing in itself . In April 2024 , the UK ’ s largest indoor arena will open – Co-op Live , a 23,500 capacity venue that will not only give both international artists and homegrown talent the opportunity to bring their shows to thousands of fans , but also for major event planners to think big for exhibitions , congresses , and tournaments .
As a city built on music and culture , it feels only fitting that this year ’ s Worldwide Music Expo ( WOMEX ) will bring its delegates to Manchester , with over 2,600 music professionals visiting the city in October . This ties in nicely with the abundance of music festivals and conferences coming to the city throughout the year like Beyond the Music , which is being hosted at the new Aviva Studios .
Manchester is no stranger to hosting international events . In June 2023 , Manchester was chosen as the host city for the annual ISPA ( International Society for the Performing Arts ) mid-year conference on behalf of the UK , with over 350 delegates experiencing the city ’ s passion for arts and culture in person . With events throughout the city at venues such as New Century Hall and HOME , it seems fitting that the city was selected to host the prestigious international convention .
