The topics will include

Gamiel Yafai who owns Diversity

consultancy also in Milton Keynes,
will chair the BAME programme and
will explore the journey of BAME
professionals in the workplace from
launching apprenticeships to the
progression into senior leadership
and C-suite level positions.
Like Minded Females, a network of
women who support and empower
women, will run sessions discussing
topics such as Impostor Syndrome,
Millennials and GenZ, alongside
providing a mentoring programme.
I cover the costs through the ticket

I think Covid-19 has had a big
impact on BAME people, LGBTQ+
people and women in particular. For
example, more BAME people have
been impacted by the virus in the
workplace, such as hospital staff,
LGBTQ+ people have suffered being
an environment where they aren’t
always fully accepted or not open
about being LGBTQ+, and women
have had to juggle home schooling,
home responsibilities and work.
Events like This Is Us brings people
from all sectors together to discuss
a vital topic, enabling people to
discuss and exchange ideas and
best practices and to learn from
each other.
I have created a social enterprise
called DiCE ( Diversity in
Conferences and Events), and this
has three main objectives. The first
is to raise awareness of diversity
and inclusion in the workplace
through the platform of conferences
and events, like This Is Us
Conference. The second is a
mentoring programme for
underrepresented groups in the
events industry and lastly, a single
standard for the events industry to
adhere to in terms of diversity and
inclusion. I urge the events
community, Government and
corporates to support DiCE in order
to benefit the events industry and to
provide a catalyst for change and
innovation across other sectors.
The DiCE website is currently
being built, but people can contact
me through Events Together
([email protected]) or
visit the This Is Us website www.
thisisusconference.co.uk to attend
the conference.
