Last year , Marketing Manchester launched a five-year plan targeting £ 1.2bn of conference business and adding £ 345m to business tourism in the region by 2025 . The plan set out how the city-region would attract more conferences , deliver a world-class delegate welcome , and develop the product .
While the impact of Covid-19 has seen some immediate adaptations to the plan , Manchester ’ s commitment to achieving its ambitious goal remains .
In response to the challenges faced by the sector and the loss of conference business in Manchester , currently totaling £ 13m , the city-region has launched a 10-point recovery strategy aimed at steering the conference and events sector through the pandemic .
Through strong partnerships with the Government and the industry across the region , the Covid recovery plan aims to rebuild visitor confidence , while improving the city ’ s offer for a world-class delegate welcome for future business .
