she said : “ Suppliers should be having open and honest conversations around T & Cs , flexibility and cancellation . If they can help to encourage delegates to attend by delivering on all parts of the events eco-system , the booker is more likely to convert the business .
“ Supplier creativity is key and suppliers will stand out if they take the time to fully understand the event requirements , the buyer ’ s needs and what ’ s important to them by responding to proposals in a timely manner ( best practice is to aim for four to eight business hours ),” she continued .
Socialites
With more events on the horizon , the social element for events , both corporate and otherwise , was highlighted in the report . Meeting face to face has arguably

never been higher on the list for potential delegates after all .
“ In our 2022 opinion panel , hoteliers and meetings and events venues made it very clear that 2021 and 2022 have high social event demand . This pent-up demand is not surprising considering the social impact of the pandemic ,” the report states .
Eccleston added : “ The corporate market is coming back , but so too are social events business , again thanks to deferred demand , but also driven by many people simply wanting to re-connect and let their hair down .
“ We all missed social events during the pandemic and now people are ready to meet up again . There may be some reluctance to meet face to face after so many months of caution and those important life events such as weddings are the perfect gatherings to take that first step

Working together
The events industry was worth £ 19.4bn in 2019 , according to the Cities Restart report . They are projecting it to reach £ 27.6bn by 2026 , as such it ’ s a point in the report to mention that collaboration is vital for gaining nationwide recognition .
Martin Fullard , editorial director , Conference News , said : “ The UK events industry is currently not a measurable entity and therefore is not being recognised by the UK treasury ”.
The report states that events need “ recognition of its commercial value but also the positive light the sector shines on Great Britain as a destination and the import and export opportunities it creates .” CN
