ATEC welcomes Australian government commitment to regional air access The Australian Tourism Export Council( ATEC) has welcomed the government’ s commitment to ensuring the survival of Rex Airlines, acknowledging the critical role of regional aviation.
ATEC managing director Peter Shelley welcomed government measures to assist with the airline’ s sale and maintain access to key regional flight slots.
“ This is an important step towards securing reliable and affordable domestic air services,” he said – vital for international visitors. Australian domestic airfares can be expensive and barriers around regional aviation access hinder Australia’ s ability to compete as a global tourism destination.
