CN talks to Marketing Manchester about developments in the city
anchester has long been a hub for UK events , with a variety of venues on offer for organisers . With an increasing venue offer and busy conference season ahead , CN caught up with Marketing Manchester for the latest scoop on what ’ s new in the city .
Delegate Welcome
Manchester Convention Bureau has just launched its new Delegate Welcome program . The program will provide an enhanced offering for both organisers and delegates .
For delegates , the program is all about welcoming them to Manchester , with an array of welcome messages across the city centre .
The dedicated delegate website offers delegates visitor information , details on health and wellness whilst in the city , such as walking / running routes and green spaces to explore , alongside
information and offers on things to see and do whilst here .
New hotels / venues
This year will see a wealth of new hotels opening within Manchester city centre and the wider Greater Manchester area . The first of these is the Clayton Hotel Manchester City Centre , which opened in early January . Now Manchester ’ s third largest hotel , it offers 329 bedrooms and a dedicated floor with function rooms and boardroom facilities . In February the new Maldron Hotel was launched in Manchester City Centre . This four-star hotel conveniently located near Oxford Road train station , offers 278 modern rooms , a restaurant and bar and excellent meeting spaces .
There is also the new Moxy Manchester City , which opened in December with 146 bedrooms . Joining it is the new Leonardo Hotel Manchester Piccadilly opening in Q2 , which will offer 275 bedrooms with the Leonardo DREAM beds , plus on-site gym , bar / restaurant and meeting space .

open in late 2022 celebrating sustainability by incorporating roof gardens , green walls and beehives producing fresh honey . This £ 200m regeneration project will have 216 rooms and , upon entering , guests will pass beneath a treehouse canopy and continue down a path filled with dappled light and the scent of pitch pine , suggestive of entering a secret forest . There ’ ll also be hopscotch carpets , steppingstones in lift lobbies and space hoppers in the hotel ’ s gym , along with ‘ an invitation for visitors to carve their stories into a central living wooden art piece that will grow over time ’.
New green spaces in the city for delegates to explore
Sustainability is on the mind for the city , with new green spaces opening up , including Castlefield Viaduct : a derelict train line transformed into urban park . The National Trust will soon begin turning the long-abandoned Grade II-listed Castlefield Viaduct into an urban park reminiscent of New York ’ s famous High Line .
