BEST STAFF SUPPORT DURING COVID-19

Gold : London Metropolitan University
London Metropolitan University states it has been committed to looking after its customers and staff during Covid-19 . “ We are a social justice university , committed to equity for all ,” says the venue . For example , its management implemented IT solutions to ensure all team members felt communicated with and engaged . These solutions included team spaces , WhatsApp groups and wellbeing phone calls . The venue also created online fitness and wellbeing programmes , challenges , quizzes and guest talks from inspirational athletes to create its own ‘ new normal ’.
During the pandemic , the venue experienced no Covid-19 related redundancies and supported its staff working from home , from technology provisions to desks , chairs and equipment delivered to those in need . On-site , the venue had asymptomatic test centres , 2m social distancing , and PPE requirements to support its staff .
Silver : The Roundhouse
The Roundhouse has 92 permanent members of staff and over 250 casual staff members . This workforce adapted to remote working and , following staff consultation , they have since moved to a hybrid and more flexible approach to work .
“ Much of our work has centred on introducing innovative digital systems , from cloud-based systems to online learning and performance systems , to keep the team connected and able to work effectively remotely . We are now focusing on the physical space at the Roundhouse to ensure the office environment is suitable for more flexible ways of working ,” says the venue .
Alongside this , the Roundhouse has invested in wellbeing , health and safety , and training to ensure its team members have been supported and kept safe during the pandemic . It has also adapted its business plan , which has helped the venue prioritise and focus on its team and regroup as one organisation .
Bronze : ExCeL London
“ Throughout the pandemic , we adopted an agile approach to human resources which enabled us to protect the mental health and welfare of our team , while striving to protect jobs and enable remote working ,” says ExCeL London . ExCeL switched its strategy utilising various resources , including IT infrastructure , communications tools , and the management team to respond to the consequences of the pandemic in an empathetic way , according to the venue . This helped its staff remain engaged , connected and informed , and deliver work whilst the venue supported the national effort to combat Covid-19 .
