Conference News looks at a number of venues around Wales
he Welsh Government hosted its first pilot event at Celtic Manor on 20 May as they look at ways to reopen safely , but while a full report of the pilot can be read on the Conference News website , don ’ t let that distract you from what is a destination rich in top-class venues for when normality returns .
Celtic Manor Celtic Manor is one of Wales ’ leading venues , and a popular destination for some of the UK ’ s biggest events .
Located just off the M4 with a massive 18-hole golf course , it offers a range of event spaces for all sizes . The Caernarfon Suite is the largest space at the resort , and regularly plays host to large conferences , banquets , product launches , award ceremonies and weddings .
High-profile events in recent years have included The Celebrity Cup Gala Dinner , New Year ’ s Eve , Brendan Cole Live at the Manor and the annual Celtic Manor Resort Wedding Fayre . The room can be divided and in total can handle 1,200 people .
There are a range of mid-size rooms , such as the Beaumaris Suite and Denbigh and Conwy Suites , the largest of which can handle 285 guests . There are numerous smaller meeting rooms
ICC Wales ICC Wales is located adjacent to Celtic Manor and is the UK ’ s newest purpose-built events destination . The building opened in September 2019 and was an instant hit with association and corporates alike . The main auditorium can seat up to 1,500 delegates while the massive exhibition hall can be divided into six small spaces . In total , it measures 4,000sqm of carpeted pillar-free space and can handle 2,400 guests for a gala dinner . There are numerous mid- and smaller-sized meeting spaces and vast car parking . The venue pays serious attention to sustainability , and this is built into its fabric .
Academic venues There are several universities across Wales which offer their facilities to conference organisers from all sectors .
Universities are a hotbed for specialist expertise which can help bring association events to any given area , with ambassador programmes a popular way of winning business .
Venues include the University of South Wales , Aberystwyth University , Cardiff University and Swansea University .
