BUILD A NETWORK Michelle Rees and Kate Bullard , directors , Eventprofslive , say social media platforms are key to your personal brand and network
s an event professional , your network is your net worth .
At Eventprofslive , we are proud of our 85-member strong corporate event manager network . Our network relies heavily on technology to connect and engage our community , the most significant technology influence being social media , and we can ’ t wait to tell you how we use it .
Most members know we met and formed Eventprofslive based on a Twitter chat . We recognised a gap in the market for a networking group for purely corporate event managers and started our own . We had initial conversations on Twitter ( all whilst utilising that all-important # eventprofs hashtag ) and , on the back of that conversation , set up Eventprofslive .

looking for a new role . They can also leverage the power of Instagram to help them do their roles better by quickly sourcing reputable suppliers with live feedback ( those comments are all telling ) and visuals to support their work .
At Eventprofslive , we use our Twitter and Instagram channels to talk about past events , promote upcoming events and share our members ’ content . As we said , it ’ s an excellent tool for building an online network which happened to transcend into an in-person one for us . We love technology .

When it comes to the ultimate tech hack for building a solid network , it has to be LinkedIn . It ’ s powerful for not only continually adding to your network through attending both in-person and virtual events , but also a great tool to showcase your achievements and accomplishments as you build your career , which also helps when looking to land that next role . Keeping yourself visible on LinkedIn is a great way to get headhunted , so using it to build your network has multiple benefits .
Above are just a few tech tools you can use to build your network , and you can then go a step further by utilising an app like Linktree to bring them all together and use their metrics to understand which platform is working best for you . Let us know how you get on , and don ’ t forget to follow us @ eventprofslive . CN
