3 Christmas Parties

A happy ending

nce upon a time , there was an evil curse that spread across the whole of Planet Earth , and in every corner of the world the rulers decreed that everybody must always stay at home and only speak to other people , even their own family members , if they put themselves into a tiny little box where only their head was visible .
There was to be no hugging or kissing , no handshaking or back-patting , no singing or dancing , no feasting or carousing , no fun or silliness and , with no end in sight , nobody had anything to look forward to .
Everybody lived in isolation and fear and so it came to pass that Christmas 2020 was cancelled . Christmas trees withered in garden centres , food rotted on the supermarket shelves , in fridges and pantries , entertainers sat at home , beautiful venues echoed with emptiness and there was no shared folklore , bonding or employee engagement created at the company Christmas party .
But all things come to an end , and just when everybody was thinking they would be living under this scourge forever , the mighty Uber-Brains , also known as the AstraZenecans , came up with a weapon that could drive out the curse and allow people , who are , above all , inherently social beings , to regain their natural state of gregariousness and interactivity once more .
And so it was that Christmas 2021 became a time for enormous celebration , for fun , laughter and reconnection and the fairy lights twinkled in the halls that were decked with holly and mistletoe , the music rang out and mysterious shapes were thrown on the dance floor , tables groaned with sumptuous banquets including plant-based fayre and everybody for generations to come , even those who elected to attend in a hybrid format , would talk about the year Christmas returned : 2021 .
Merry Christmas everyone .
