Sustainability Plan
What success looks like The plan may have been implemented , but the long-term nature of sustainability means that it requires a clear set of success metrics to be considered ‘ a net positive ’ for the industry .
The plan outlines three clear ways in which it can showcase its success , stating it will have achieved its initial goals when : Canada is globally considered as a sustainable and purpose-driven business events destination ; Canadian destinations and venues have trained staff on sustainability and use common language and messaging ; and its international organisations understand and have access to the turnkey sustainable offerings for their future events .
This sustainable future that Canada is striving for is a process of continuous improvement , but the key goal moving forward is to reach a place where tourism is regenerative . That being a model that benefits local communities and environments while still allowing inbound visitors .
THE THREE PILLARS
Environment The first thing many planners think of when it comes to sustainability , measuring the impact of events upon the planet is a long-term must for any sustainable plan .
Economic Having access to financial independence , both on a business and community level , is critical for the ongoing success of both groups , this element of sustainability is about the future success of the businesses we serve .
Socio-cultural
Supporting local communities and preserving cultures in destinations is a vital component to the legacy of business events .
