Oneworld with 3,500 aircraft Oneworld brings together 15 airlines and 30 affiliates and serves an international route network covering more than a thousand destinations in 150 countries. Oneworld claims to account for 80% of air travel spend between the world's top 100 business cities. Alliance members include: airberlin, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas and Qatar Airways. Oneworld partners carry 510m passengers a year and operate 3,500 aircraft. There is, on average, one oneworld airline departure or arrival somewhere around the world every three seconds and its members’ combined business generates US$140bn in annual revenues. 6 Oneworld appointed Bruce Ashby its CEO in December 2010. He served previously as chief executive for India's Indigo and Saudi Arabia's SAMA after filling senior roles in the USA with US Airways, United and Delta. A governing board comprises the chief executives of each of the member airlines and is currently chaired by Ivan Chu, chief executive of Cathay Pacific. New oneworld priority signage was unveiled in June 2015 and is being rolled out at 1,000-plus airports on the alliance network. Oneworld events offers a ‘onestop' solution for large meetings and events. To qualify, there needs to be at least 100 attendees flying internationally to an event. The request must also be submitted three months prior to the event. A single agreement covers all member airlines and includes a promotional toolkit for organisers to build attendee awareness. This provides for a click-through link to access discounted fares. With oneworld events, attendees can earn rewards and tier status points on eligible flights, as well enjoying frequent flyer privileges, fast track at security lanes and extra baggage allowances Oneworld promises “significant flight discounts for attendees and for one travel companion available for travel for up to seven days before and after the event”. An online booking tool displays the most convenient flights and multiple fare options and customers can view and download real-time booking and management reports.
