POST-PANDEMIC SUCCESS

When Covid presented new challenges for the MICE sector , event organisers were spurred to explore new formats .

As part of Singapore ’ s approach towards the safe resumption of business events , the Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association ( APACMed ) held its first-ever virtual forum in September 2020 , followed a month later by the ‘ Web in Travel ’ event which used a hybrid format based at the Marina Bay Sands ’ pioneering hybrid studio .
Safe business events These successful events paved the way for the resumption of large-scale business events with TravelRevive , held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre in late 2020 and attracting nearly 1,000 attendees .
Events bounce back Even before the latest lifting of Covid restrictions , events were taking off . The Singapore Air show , Asia ’ s most influential aerospace and defence event , returned in February 2022 for its eighth edition .
Nearly 13,000 trade visitors from 39 countries met with 600 participating companies over the four days of the air show .
Gamescom Asia returned in October , bringing its familiar festival atmosphere . The Asian satellite event of gamescom , the world ’ s largest computer and video games festival , brought four packed days of exhilarating highlights for the gaming industry and a spectacular entertainment programme for fans .
It ’ s not just the big exhibitions that are enjoying a resurgence either ; across all sectors the meetings sector is bouncing back in style . Covid may have decimated the meeting and events sector , but in Singapore it ’ s back with a vengeance .
