A real busy time with specialist industry shows coming one after the other. Conventa and Convene in South East Europe and the Baltic Region, respectively, showed off their boutique wares again to good effect, while the UK’s powerhouse show, International Confex, wowed the crowds in London again (and I hope some of you managed to drop by our International Pavilion at Olympia). Certainly, there was plenty of inspiration and innovation on view in the London February sun. Likewise, in The Hague, where the Dutch MANAGING EDITOR PAUL COLSTON [email protected] GLOBAL ACCOUNT DIRECTOR IAIN STIRLING [email protected] chapter of MPI took it upon themselves to manage the 2019 edition of EMEC, MPI’s key education gathering in Europe always challenges with fresh approaches and new things and this year’s ‘Changing the game’ theme did not disappoint, as you can read in our report in this issue. Down Under, Melbourne served up its AIME exhibition under new management and delivered a superb showcase of the industry strengths in Asia Pacific. Meetings Africa also ran a successful 14th edition in February. Of course, headwinds still test us, in the UK with the challenges of Brexit and elsewhere trade wars and sanctions are exercising too much creative energies.
