Staying sharp, energised and connected

WELLNESS ESSARY’ S LAURA SEDDON OFFERS SOME MIND – BODY PRACTICES FOR STAYING ENERGISED FOR THAT MAIN EVENT

C onferences are potent

containers for learning wisdom, expanding your network and finding inspiration. However, they can also be overwhelming and the body can struggle. This usually shows up in three key ways:
• Losing focus or concentration dipping throughout the day
• Physical discomfort or restlessness from sitting or standing for long periods
• Difficulty retaining information. When the body becomes tired, the mind follows. But, when we move our bodies regularly and give ourselves space to process information, we are far more likely to retain what we learn. This is why dedicating breaks to intentional practices that stimulate the mind, move stagnant energy and release physical tension can make a huge difference. We recommend the following practices to support you with this:
The Recalibration Method breathwork The method uses the breath as an anchor to consciously reset your energy. It offers a moment of pause where the body can step out of the stimulation of the environment and return to a more balanced state.
Slow and intentional breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system – the branch responsible for rest, recovery and regulation. When this system is engaged, the body shifts into a calmer, more present state.
This practice can be done easily during a break by listening to a short
guided audio. In just a few minutes, the breath can bring your system back into balance and help you return to the next session feeling more grounded and receptive.
Regulate Together This is a partner-based practice that invites participants to tune into not only what is happening within themselves, but also to gently attune to the presence of others. Through breath awareness, physical proximity and the exploration of personal energetic space, participants

It also works beautifully as an icebreaker.
The Integration Reset The Integration Reset practice begins with a short return to the breath to settle the nervous system. Participants are then guided through a gentle“ energy shake”, allowing the body to physically release tension and stagnant energy that may have built up from sitting, standing or holding concentration for long periods.
Following this, a brief body scan invites participants to tune into their physical sensations, noticing areas of tension or fatigue.
Finally, participants reflect on what they have learned and how they might apply this moving forward.
The Joyful Awakening Yoga Flow The Joyful Awakening Yoga Flow is a gentle sequence inviting participants to move through simple stretches that help release stiffness, improve circulation and restore vitality. The aim is awakening – reconnecting people with their bodies and refreshing their energy.
To finish, a playful element of laughter yoga is introduced. Laughter is one of the fastest ways to release tension in the body and shift emotional states.
As conferences evolve, there’ s growing recognition that supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of participants is as crucial as the content itself. Approaches that weave nervous system regulation, mindful movement and reflection into events help attendees stay grounded, present and open to learning – ultimately enhancing both focus and connection.
This is the philosophy behind programmes like those offered by Wellness-essary, ensuring that learning is absorbed and embodied rather than simply endured. n
