The sequence that changes everything

MEGAN WILSON, CO-FOUNDER AND WELLNESS DIRECTOR AT PNEUMA LAB OFFERS SOME TIPS FOR RESTORING CALM AND IN THE HECTIC WORLD OF EVENT ORGANISING

A s meeting and event

professionals, you’ re the calm in the chaos, coordinating timelines, resolving last-minute issues, and making it all look effortless.
This isn’ t about adding more to your plate, it ' s about changing the sequence that restores your clarity and energy. Most people try to think their way into focus when under pressure. But if the body is still bracing, locked in fight-or-flight, clarity and creativity can’ t flow. Your system is protecting, not imagining.
When you reverse the sequence, you can change your state of being and your on-the-spot problem solving.
What if you started with your breath; then tuned into your body; then gave your mind space to reflect?
This tiny shift can unlock more calm and clarity than any productivity hack ever will.
Here are three things you’ re already doing – just in a new order.
• Repeat for one minute You’ re not forcing calm. You’ re signaling to your body: It’ s safe to begin again.
2. Body awareness: You’ re already feeling – now try noticing Stress, urgency, delight, frustration— you already feel them all. Instead of overriding them, try a 10-second pause:“ Where do I feel this in my body?” Then offer a gentle shift:
• Shake out your hands
• Take a short walk around the space
• Hug someone you love at the end of the day
Somatic awareness isn’ t about being perfectly Zen. It’ s about staying connected in motion.

3. Mindset: You’ re already thinking – now try asking better questions In events, change is constant. When you practise thoughts that create curiosity instead of control, your capacity expands, without burnout. Try:“ What is the best that could happen here?”“ How am I so good at going with the flow?”( Even as a joke – it still lands.)
You don’ t need to force positivity. Just offer your mind new tracks to walk.
The secret is the sequence Most people start with the mind, then get emotionally hijacked, and eventually their body crashes.
But when you start with breath; then bring in body awareness; then let the mind reflect or ask a question you become the calmest, clearest person in the room. Try it this week. Use breath as your doorway. Let your body speak. Let your mind wonder, not wrestle. You are already doing it all. Now, by simply reordering it, you empower your body to lead, creating inner wellness and conscious hospitality. n
1. Breath: You’ re already breathing – now try breathing on purpose Your breath is the fastest, most accessible way to shift your internal state.
Especially when you ' re juggling venues, vendors, and last-minute changes, a one-minute breath reset can create spaciousness inside the swirl. Try this:
• Inhale through your nose for three counts
• Exhale through your mouth for six( like a soft sigh)
