Creating zen zones

KRISTINE IVERSON, FOUNDER, CROW PRACTICE, ON INCORPORATING WELLNESS LOUNGES IN EVENTS

A ddressing the diverse needs

of attendees is a key part of inclusive meeting planning. One way to address this growing need is through wellness lounges. At CROW Practice we have created a range of wellness lounge concepts that support wellbeing and help attendees feel more present during events.
What is a wellness lounge? A wellness lounge is a calming, designated space within an event where attendees can pause, recharge, and refocus. These spaces can be called Zen Dens, Quiet Rooms, Wellness Rooms or other names. The intention of the space is to provide a peaceful retreat during busy events, helping attendees manage the stress of a packed schedule.
Why wellness lounges matter? Wellness is a growing focus in every aspect of our lives, including events. CROW Practice conducted a Wellness Survey for Professionals in the Live Event Industry. On the initial results, over half of meeting planners are interested in exploring and offering wellness lounges. The stress of a jampacked schedule can affect focus, engagement, and overall satisfaction. Wellness lounges are a solution.
Benefits for meeting planners? Integrating wellness lounges can truly set the meeting apart and show your attendees that their wellbeing is being prioritised. These spaces foster positive experiences, increasing satisfaction and engagement. Wellness lounges are customisable to any budget, from simple seating areas to luxurious relaxation zones. They not only improve the attendee experience but also contribute to a memorable and impactful event.

How to add a wellness lounge to your next event To successfully incorporate a wellness lounge, start by understanding your attendees’ needs and preferences. Tailor the lounge to your participants’ demographics, energy levels, and the overall event schedule. Once you’ ve identified the needs of your attendees, it’ s time to select a wellness lounge experience that aligns with your event goals.
A Tranquility Oasis Zen Den Invite your attendees to engage in activities that promote stress relief, mental clarity, and emotional balance. With calm lighting, comfy seating, and soothing sounds, it’ s the perfect place for attendees to take a deep breath and relax. Whether it’ s guided meditation, the use of silent headphones and music, a nap pod, aromatherapy, or a quiet corner to unwind, the space helps people clear their minds and return to the event feeling refreshed.
Vitality Harbour Zen Zone Offer opportunities like chair massages, mobile massage, pet n play with puppies,( who doesn’ t love puppies?), oxygen bar for rejuvenation or create your own candle experience.
A Connection Haven Zen Zone This soothing environment engages and promotes connection. Suggested services to include could be a build your own herb and tea, juice shots, virtual reality for an immersive experience or therapy dogs with branded apparel for a heartwarming, stress-relieving interaction. Essentially all of these Zen Zone ideas provide a peaceful or uplifting atmosphere for attendees to unwind and reconnect. n
