Consensus Hong Kong 2025, held at HKCEC in February, regarded as the‘ Super Bowl of Blockchain’ and‘ The World Cup of Web3’, marked the expansion of what is the longestrunning event of the crypto world beyond North America, with a record attendance and delegates coming from 100 countries, three-quarters from outside of Hong Kong.
Delegates were treated to many experiences, all with a strong local flavour, such as an Opening Ceremony on The Henderson’ s ultra-luxury rooftop ballroom Cloud 39; a horse-racing night at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Race Course and parties at Lan Kwai Fong. Such stunning side events all helped make the debut mother ship event a resounding success.
Michael Lau, chairman of Consensus Hong Kong, said the scale of activities had surpassed expectations, with nearly 10,000 attendees.“ What truly surprised us is that the community and industry were eager to participate and the fact that we ended up hosting over 350 side events is a strong testament to Hong Kong as a leading global FinTech hub with a vibrant ecosystem, entrepreneurial spirit and innovative cultures that can’ t be replicated elsewhere. I am also appreciative of the support from the HKTB in securing the event for the city I call home.”
Another new convention enjoying a strong debut in Hong Kong was the ground-breaking Sports Law Mega Event 2025, comprising the Sports Law Conference, the 15th Recreation and Sports Night and the 9th Guangdong- Hong Kong-Macao Lawyers Sports Meet. The four-day mega event at the end of February highlighted Hong Kong’ s strengths in spearheading sports law against the backdrop of‘ One Country, Two Systems and Three Jurisdictions’. It brought together over 350 legal professionals and industry experts from 14 jurisdictions.
Mr Roden Tong, president of The Law Society of Hong Kong, which

Asif Chaudhury, managing director, Asia at The Economist Group said:“ New technologies help businesses thrive, empower individuals and close the digital divide. In the words of professor Cox, Hong Kong is,“ a wonderful world city, a genuine crossroads where ideas, people, and cultures converge. This interaction between citizens from diverse backgrounds is necessary for curiosity-led exploration of nature, one of the foundations of a better civilisation.”
