Northern Territory sees the light for business events

CMW FINDS COMPELLING REASONS FOR BUSINESS EVENT PLANNERS TO CONSIDER AUSTRALIA ’ S NORTHERN TERRITORY

E very element of the Australian experience is available in the NT – a cosmopolitan capital city in Darwin , quintessential outback towns , engagement with an ancient 65,000 years old Aboriginal culture , iconic landscapes , warm hospitality from a diverse community , and unique nature-based activities . Importantly , the capacity to inspire and motivate .

NT initiatives a proven success Convention bureau NT Business Events ( NTBE ) has long recognised the merit in seeking to attract business events for which the Northern Territory offers specific relevance and synergies .
Thirteen key business and industry strengths have been identified by the NT government – these include multiple specialisations in health , agribusiness and mining , through to maritime services , defence and space .
The list of international conferences coming to the NT in 2023 includes the International BioIron Society Congress , WaterMicro 2023 , the World Conference on Ecological Restoration , the World Aquaculture Conference and the World Community Development Conference .
The NT Business Events Support Fund initiative , administered by NTBE , offers a minimum AUD $ 100 per delegate , with priority given to business events which align with the NT ’ s economic and social strengths . Planners organising conferences and high-end incentives with capacity to deliver significant flow-on benefits to the NT economy are encouraged to apply .

A new NT ‘ sensory ’ attraction , Light Towers , launched in April 2023 at Discovery Kings Canyon Resort in the Watarrka National Park . The immersive sound and light installation is being created by UK artist Bruce Munro , who is responsible for the spectacular Field of Light installation near Voyages Ayers Rock Resort Uluru .
The display will encompass 69 two-metre towers which change colour in response to music coming from within , and the towers themselves comprise hundreds of bottles filled with fibre optic cables . Discovery Kings Canyon Resort is located approximately halfway between Alice Springs and Uluru in the very heart of Australia . The property features resort and spa rooms as well as luxury glamping tents ideal for small group incentives .
Culture enhances business events There are many ways in which delegates can engage with the oldest living culture in the world . From ‘ Welcome to Country ’ ceremonies through to experiences such as dot-painting classes and didgeridoo lessons . There is also the annual Parrtjima – A Festival in Light , the only First Nations light festival of its kind in the world . It will be next held in Alice Springs , 7-16 April 2023 .
