Paris review

MICE professionals will be able to view over 200 of Paris ’ venues , including those used for the Olympics , on the bienVenue 2024 website . The new virtual showcase allows exclusive , private venues to be booked for large- or small-scale MICE events for the first time .
As well as bringing sites and people together , Paris ’ 2024 mission is to create legacy for the city and territory . “ We want to create sustainable legacy and be the most sustainable Games to date .
“ Approximately 95 % of the Games ’ infrastructures already exist . We didn ’ t need to create many new infrastructures , except the ones that we really need as a territory ,” says Menegaux .
The two venues that are being developed , the Olympic and Paralympic Village and the Aquatics
Centre , are clearly aligned with the city ’ s long-term development plans .
“ The Aquatics Centre was a demand from the residents of the area , as there were no existing swimming facilities ,” explains Menegaux .
In addition , Paris 2024 will be the first Games aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement . In its efforts to reduce the Games ’ CO2 emissions , Paris aims to deliver a 55 % smaller carbon footprint than the London 2012 Olympic Games .
This is evident in its ‘ clean transport policy ’, which includes : 100 % of spectators travelling to venues by public transport , cycling or walking ; free access to the Paris transport system for Games ticket-holders and a zero-emission bus fleet service during the Games .

Paris 2024 will create legacy further through introducing new elements to the Games . For example , the Mass Participation Marathon will allow amateur athletes to run the same route as the Olympic marathon , “ creating audience participation for the first time in Olympic history ,” according to Menegaux .
New urban activities will also be continued from the 2020 Tokyo Games , and Paris will introduce breakdancing in order to “ encourage more younger spectators and drive innovation ,” says Mounir Biba , a world champion in the discipline .
As the city is busy preparing for Paris 2024 , it is simultaneously showing the world , and the MICE industry – it ’ s passionate about sustainability and event legacy .
