H ello and welcome to issue 120 of Conference & Meetings World , and once more we have a jam-packed issue for you .

By the time you are reading this , the Northern Hemisphere will be careering towards autumn , and in some corners of the globe there are already murmurs about the reintroduction of face coverings in places including Germany . There is nothing wrong with exercising caution as the cooler weather nears , as this will be our first winter season with a vaccine in the arms of billions around the world . It should certainly not be seen as a negative factor to keep events on the agenda .
In the Southern Hemisphere it is full steam ahead for New Zealand , which reopened its borders earlier in the year . CMW was honoured to be personally invited
for a 10-day trip , and you can read what ’ s new on p31 .
Another destination that is ready and roaring to go is Belfast . I had the pleasure of interviewing Gerry Lennon , CEO of Visit Belfast , to learn more about how the city plans to leverage its expertise in the fields of science and technology to bring in core association and corporate events . You can read it on p20 .
I would urge you also flick to p17 , where we speak to Adam Sloyer , CEO of New York-based Sequence Events , about the agency ’ s strategy and current trends . Sloyer notes the demand for in-person events is driving them to be more creative and more strategic about how they construct and produce meaningful experiences at conferences and events . It is a must-read for you all .
On p26 we turn our attention to IMEX America , which returns to Las Vegas 11-13 October . We have a full show preview for you and hope that you will be able to join us on the show floor .
Come what may , the industry feels stronger than ever . While cash in the bank may not be back to pre-pandemic levels yet , we are a global village , and there is a renewed sense of purpose of strategy . Long may it continue .
Enjoy the issue .
