Meetings Africa 2022 ready for physical return in Johannesburg
Registration for the 16th instalment of Meetings Africa is officially open . South African Tourism has said it intends for the show to be in-person , 28 February-2 March , at the Sandton Convention Centre , Johannesburg .
Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo , chief bureau officer at the South Africa National Convention Bureau , said : “ There has been a resounding call for face-to-face business engagement from our industry players , and we are confident in executing a safe event .”

Las Vegas welcomes 2.2m convention attendees since June 2021
An estimated 2.2m convention attendees were hosted throughout Las Vegas since in-person events returned in June 2021 , according to research published by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority .
Las Vegas welcomed more than 32m visitors in 2021 , which was a significant increase from 2020 ’ s visitation of 19m visitors . Occupancy of Las Vegas ’ s 150,000 hotel rooms was also 67 % for the year , with weekend visitation averaging 81 %.

MCI Group enters Brazilian market
The international communication , marketing and events agency , MCI Group , has expanded its technology solutions offer by the entry of the Dorier agency to the Brazilian market .
The new branch is a tech and systems company specialising in virtual events technology , digital experience activations and integrations , 3D and AR modelling , XR studio , volumetric video capturing , NFT systems , and solutions developed for engaging audiences in a hybrid format .

Western Australia business event sector reaps rewards of funding
Business Events Perth ( BE Perth ) has confirmed five new
business events worth over AUD $ 13.2m ( US $ 9.4m ), owing to a boost in funding from the Government of Western Australia ’ s Reconnect WA package .
The $ 185m Reconnect WA package included a $ 15m funding boost for BE Perth . Since being awarded the funding , BE Perth has confirmed four medical conferences that are set to see over 2,750 medical specialists travel to WA between 2022 and 2025 .
