CMW TAKES A DEEP DIVE INTO THE UNDERWATER WORLD OF THE OCTOBER EDITION OF PLANETIMEX
“ It was no mean feat to top May ’ s edition of PlanetIMEX and give the industry another ‘ wow ’, but I believe we achieved that . The enhanced design and production values , the quality of the education , on-demand replays , the fun virtual experiences , plus the fact that , as in our live shows , we gave space for our partners to shine .” That was how IMEX CEO Carina Bauer summarised the impact of PlanetIMEX , which took place 12 – 16 October .
The week-long free virtual experience had everything from learning sessions , partner-led content and networking opportunities , attracting 5,200 registrations . The IMEX family values shone through with behind the scenes chats with chairman Ray Bloom and CEO Carina Bauer , plus industry friends and colleagues sharing their views .
A brand-new concept , MondayFunday , was a full day of fun and community experiences with everything from latte art , meditation , magic and mindfulness , to a helicopter trip over the famous Las Vegas Strip , and it set the standard for an engaging week of live content .
Two days of general learning sessions followed , propelling personal and professional development to the fore , with the future focused sessions proving particularly popular – these sessions provided an expert eye on technology , contracts and negotiations , trends and research , plus predictions for meetings and events .
IMEX ’ s industry partners International Congress and Convention Association ( ICCA ), Destinations International and the German Convention Bureau ( GCB ) presented detailed business and events updates from their corners of the world . From response to recovery : Africa , Asia , Europe , Germany , Latin America , Middle East , USA took an in-depth look at current progress , regulations and the state of
IMEX in Frankfurt is next scheduled for 25 – 27 May 2021 and IMEX America , for 9 – 11 November 2021 . business readiness across seven regions .
IAPCO ’ s session saw British Olympic rower Victoria Thornley share how she dealt with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games . She was joined by Panos Tzivanidis , director of corporate events and services at the International Olympic Committee , who explained what it will take to ensure the rescheduled event takes place in 2021 .
This time around , IMEX introduced Headliners - experts from outside the business events industry who offered fresh perspectives on the world . Photographer and explorer Daniel Fox shared his experience of the natural world in a timely session exploring how to harness the power of nature to ‘ Nurture , Awaken , Transform , Uplift , Restore and Elevate the human spirit ’. His session was part of IMEX ’ s celebration of Nature , its Talking Point for 2020 and 2021 .
Building on this , IMEX launched its Regenerative Revolution report – a call to arms for the events industry to regenerate , not just restart . Regenerative Revolution , A New Paradigm for Event Management calls on the global events industry to embrace circular design thinking and to understand the principles and power of a circular economy . “ We believe this ground-breaking and timely report will inspire change and action ; proving that our industry can – and should - positively regenerate ,” said Carina Bauer .
The virtual underwater world – www . planetimex . com – is live until 6 November 2020 offering a treasure trove of content to explore . Following this , the learning sessions will be available on IMEX ’ s You Tube channel .
