O 2 universum
CMW CATCHES A NEW BREATH OF FRESH VENUE AIR
AVAILABLE IN THE CZECH CAPITAL
O 2 universum is a new multifunctional
complex located in Prague and which
opened last autumn. Its name,
‘universum’, reflects the essence and
main characteristics of the facility which
offers both clients and visitors universal
space, at the same time compact and
extensive.
In combination with the adjacent
directly linked O 2 arena, it offers a unique
space to host cultural and sport events,
conventions, conferences and summits.
The new O 2 universum complex has
four floors and total area of almost
50,000sqm. The 21 halls of varying sizes
can accommodate a total capacity of
10,000 visitors. The largest hall has a
capacity of up to 4,500 people and can be
used for medium-sized concerts and
sports events. The complex offers
13,000sqm for exhibitions and
commercial use.

“Thanks to several entrances and
segmentation of the building, O 2
universum can serve conferences and
corporate meetings for several hundred
participants, and after the connection of
all the premises it is suitable for
congresses with several thousand
participants. Finally, after connecting the
O 2 arena on all four floors, we can get a
space for up 28,000 visitors with plenty of
exhibition space, several restaurants of all
categories and almost unlimited
possibilities for any space arrangement
according to client wishes,” says Robert
Schaffer, the Chairman of the Board and
CEO of Bestsport company, O 2 arena and
O 2 universum.
“The first event to use the connection
of both arenas was the world’s biggest
showjumping event, Global
Championship Prague Playoffs 2019. The
competition took place in O 2 arena and
the warm up area and shopping village
were situated in O 2 universum. “The
opening ceremony in the O 2 arena and
congress in the O 2 universum for a
well-known Czech investment group
used the potential of both arenas as well.”
adds Marek Chmátal, the Business
Development Director of the O 2
universum.
O 2 universum can be considered to be
one of the most modern venues in
Europe. “Currently we are finishing
another 15 new lounges which will take
the capacity of the complex to 36 halls
overall. Prague is also known for its
strategic position: destination,
accessibility, safety and infrastructure,
which makes it one of the most popular
destination in Europe. In addition, we
have history and culture that attract
guests and therefore events in Prague
have a higher attendance average than
other European cities,” adds Chmátal.
Chmátal notes also that O 2 universum
is able to offer excellent catering services
thanks to 15 years of experiences from
the biggest and most prestigious events
in the O 2 arena. “At one time is possible
to serve 4,500 guests and 13,500
visitors.” He says also that a selection of
external suppliers is also available to add
any extra AV services required by clients.
A new hotel is due to be opened next to
the O 2 arena and O 2 universum in 2021,
bringing more synergies to the complex for
hosting the international events in Prague.
And, addressing the coronavirus issue,
the venue management adds: “We are all
facing an unpredictable virus which
affects people and business all over the
world. We miss our events and visiting
fans, but respect all government
statements and hope that we will be able
to return visitors and guest to the O 2
universum soon.”
