Theme parks Bleisure principle BIG PLANS AFOOT ON SENTOSA ISLAND AND MORE OPTIONS FROM DISNEYLAND PARIS SHOW THAT COMBINING BUSINESS EVENTS WITH THEME PARK INFRASTRUCTURE CAN BE A WINNING CONCEPT ingapore’s Resorts World Sentosa clinched the Best Meetings/Incentives Organiser category in this year’s Singapore Tourism Awards for its role in organising Amway India’s Incentive Movement. It is home to the region’s largest column-free ballroom, and to unique venues such as the S.E.A. Aquarium and Universal Studios Singapore. Leisure parks, it would seem, are well suited to incentives activities and are expanding into business events more than ever before. Universal Studios Singapore is a proposition that brings together business and leisure and is proving popular for corporate buy-outs, social evenings and private celebrations. Options include Big Apple-themed canapés and cocktails along the streets of New York, al fresco barbecue among lush foliage of The Lost World, a fairytale party at the Far Far Away castle and a movie and entertainment night along Hollywood Boulevard and Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Held in December 2018, the Amway India Incentive Movement welcomed 3,500 delegates for a customised five-day programme. Senior Amway representatives were able to make a grand entrance on a speedboat at Universal Studios Singapore’s WaterWorld show and customised Indian menus catered with some specific dietary restrictions and customs. Other customised touches include an ‘underwater’ VIP dinner among 100,000 animals at S.E.A. Aquarium, and the ballroom using its 270-degree projection and rotating stage. Senior executives were able to make a grand entrance on a speedboat at Universal Studios Singapore’s Waterworld Unique experiences include a banquet option at the Open Ocean Gallery in the S.E.A. Aquarium, where delegates can view up to 100,000 marine animals. Clients can also take a journey through the historically significant maritime silk route at the Maritime Experiential Museum; and there are al fresco evening cocktails and beach party options for delegates to let their hair down at the breezy Adventure Cove Waterpark. With rides, pools and Southeast Asia’s first hydro-magnetic coasters, the Waterpark lends itself for teambuilding activities too. “Going forward, RWS is set to become the ‘next-generation’ venue for bespoke events and festival-style conventions with greater elements of entertainment, networking and audience engagement,” a RWS Image: Artist’s impression of play spaces and ementities.
