ADELAIDE CONVENTION CENTRE: WHERE PEOPLE, PURPOSE AND PERFORMANCE COME TOGETHER

When it comes to business events in South Australia, Adelaide Convention Centre is‘ where it all comes together’– where clients’ vision meets the ACC team’ s expertise. The Centre is where South Australia’ s worldclass produce meets culinary creativity and where technology and sustainability come together.

The Centre’ s superpower is its location – right in the heart of Adelaide’ s vibrant riverbank precinct. Delegates have everything they need within easy walking distance, from accommodation and dining to entertainment, culture and plenty of green space.
Adelaide is a true‘ City of Innovation’, known for its knowledge-sharing and this creates exceptional opportunities for business events. short stroll from the Centre is the AUD $ 3.6bn Adelaide BioMed City, home to 2,000 researchers and world-leading experts. For event organisers this means unparalleled potential for site visits, research partnerships and access to globally recognised keynote speakers.
The ACC is a driving force behind South Australia’ s rise to prominence. Its triple win a at the 2025 Australian Business Events Awards was a statement that Adelaide is leading the nation in creating and delivering events that inspire, connect and leave lasting impact.
In December, the Centre was honoured with the title Convention / Exhibition Centre of the Year, awarded Venue Team of the Year and claimed the industry’ s coveted Best Team 2025 at the annual ABEA Awards.
The accolades capped off a remarkable 2025 during which ACC delivered more than 667 events, including 110 major national and international conferences which brought more than 62,500 interstate and international visitors to Adelaide, generated 157,000 room nights for local hotels, and injected more than $ 300m into the South Australian economy.
ACC recently completed a $ 2m upgrade of its AV and technology infrastructure, introducing upgraded lighting, projectors and new LED screens to support the delivery of immersive events.
General manager Sarah Goldfinch notes:“ This investment builds on our existing $ 30m of audio-visual assets, supported by our dedicated team of 50 in-house creative and technical specialists who have the passion, imagination and expertise to bring events to life.”
The commitment to sustainability is evidenced by the Centre being the world’ s first convention centre to achieve EarthCheck Master certification.( It was recently re-certified for its 17th consecutive year.) The Centre annually diverts 99 % of waste from landfill while continually reducing water use, energy consumption and emissions. In fact, ACC’ s latest EarthCheck audit reveals it leads the Australian business events industry in each of these categories.
ACC is also raising the bar when it comes to social sustainability. Nearly a year on from its launch, ACC’ s Community Impact Programme is empowering event organisers to embed purpose into their programmes.
“ The aim is to help event organisers leave a meaningful, lasting impact in our destination across four key areas,” Goldfinch explains,“– Community, Environment, First Nations and Good Donations.”
One of the case studies saw the Centre foster a relationship between the Australian Retailers Conference & Exhibition and OzHarvest, which saw the client donate over 6,700kg of leftover exhibition and food and beverage samples( the equivalent of 13,400 meals) to support those facing food insecurities in the local community.
Another is offered by TSANZSRS 2025, with whom the Centre facilitated a partnership with Trees for Life. Instead of providing traditional speaker gifts, the client redirected their budget to plant 170 trees across South Australia – one for each conference speaker.
With its continued innovation, community impact and industry-leading guest experiences, Adelaide Convention Centre is not just raising the bar, but helping shape the future of business events in Australia. n
