W e offer some insights from travels to a wide spread of global destinations in this edition , some more mainstream than others .
I recently worked a shift in a Polish coal mine , as part of a Polish experience – the first press trip of its kind organised by the Silesian Convention Bureau – to find out about how an industrial heartland is reinventing itself as a natural successor for MICE activities . My travels also took me to Thailand to take part in the TIME 2024 MICE trade show in Bangkok , as that country comes back strongly post-Covid . With a fast-paced high-end hotel construction programme and plenty of interesting and exotic incentives , including visits to coffee plantations and elephant sanctuaries , all the country needs to turn up the MICE turbo is to increase its air lift back to 2019 levels .

My favourite interview of the month has to be with Thomas Hitzlsperger , who has bought the L ’ Escargot restaurant in London ’ s Soho and launched a series of meeting salons to complement the Michelin star quality French cuisine . Thomas was the first Premier League footballer in England to come out as gay and he describes that experience , as well as plunging into new entrepreneurial challenges .
