Adios, Barcelona
The hazy, halcyon days of summer may be well behind us but an ear-
ly September visit to Barcelona reminded us of what we’ll be missing
in the coming winter months with a few days of glorious sunshine.
There was, of course, a more important reason for us to be in the
Catalonian capital – this year’s TradeTech FX Europe. While many of
Barcelona’s citizens were out in force celebrating the National Day of
Catalonia (top tip: don’t try to get a taxi in the city centre during this
time), Europe’s FX finest were discussing the most pressing issues
their market is currently facing.
It was unsurprising to find that global political instability was top of
that list, with many of the event’s panel discussions focusing on how
FX markets are being, or will be, impacted by unpredictable forces
such as the US President’s ongoing trade war with China, European
currency crises in Turkey and Italy, and turmoil in Latin American’s
emerging markets.
A markedly more compact conference than its equities counterpart
in Paris, TradeTech FX nonetheless managed to pack in just as much
discussion, analysis and insight into its two-day running time.
Inside this wrap-up edition of The TRADETech FX Daily you’ll find
the best of our coverage from the conference, including reporting
from some of the key panel discussions, interviews and opinion on the
most important issues for the FX markets.
Until next year, it’s adios Barcelona.
