FIND THE RIGHT CONTRACTOR TO HELP
EASE THE EMOTIONAL BURDEN OF A RENO.
Renovations can take an unexpected emotional
toll on you, your daily life and your relationships.
Simple things like not being able to use the coffee
maker to the intrusion of having others in your
home day after day can really turn your life upside
down. It is important to choose a contractor who
understands the emotional side of a renovation.
Homeowners often ask about a contractors’
qualifications, past projects and the cost of the
renovation, but there is more to it. Ask plenty of
questions in advance to ensure you understand
your contractors’ values. You will be putting a lot
of trust in your contractors throughout the process.
The better you know them and the better they
know you, the less anxious and more at ease you
will feel.
It is much different working in a construction zone
than having to carry on your everyday life in it.
Look for a contractor that understands this, takes
the time to get to know you and puts a plan in
place to make everyday tasks a little easier for you
and your family during the renovation. Having
a plan in place will help reduce anxiety and will
ensure that you are prepared to deal with the
reality of the renovation. It will also ensure your
contractor knows what your expectations are. Some
things to discuss would include dust containment,
daily clean up (Will the home be left in a clean
state at the end of each day?) and respect of your
space (Which areas will employees have access
to?). You’ll also want to have a communication plan
for inconveniences. Should the renovation require
periods where amenities like a sink, toilet and
appliances are not available, how and when will
you be notified?
Our goal is always to build long lasting relationships
with our clients by exceeding their expectations
and gaining their trust through each stage of the
renovation process. The emotional aspect of a
renovation, and the steps we take to lessen that toll,
are an important part of our process. Making your
renovation a positive and rewarding experience.
