Community Service Morning: Mustard Seed School IN COLLABORATION WITH THE AIACV’S COMMITTEE ON ARCHITECTURE FOR EDUCATION (CAE) INFO Saturday, Oct. 20, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. -- $10, all proceeds will be donated to Mustard Seed School WHERE Mustard Seed School campus, adjacent to Loaves & Fishes, 1351 North C St., Sacramento OVERVIEW Join AIA architects and local students for a community service morning at Mustard Seed School. This event will focus on improving the school’s Outreach Cottage. Volunteers will assist in implementing a design plan created by a previous architectural charrette gathering. A signed liability form is required to participate. All skill levels are welcome. Mustard Seed School was established in 1989 to help meet the needs of homeless children. Many school-age children are unable to attend school due to homelessness. Some children 88 comstocksmag.com | 2018 lack immunizations, birth certificates, or other documents; some are in transit; and almost all lack a support system. Despite their challenging situations, these children are eager to learn and to be accepted. Mustard Seed School fills this need in a warm, supportive environment. Event founded by Laura Knauss, AIA.
