Hope in a Meal

Juliana Garcia Shahsamand (left), co-owner of House of
Shah in Woodland, prepares meals for Yolo Delivers Hope,
a program that provides meals for homebound seniors,
low-income families and migrant farm workers. YDH was
started in response to the COVID-19 pandemic by Woodland’s
Dinner on Main organizers. It received $20,000
through the Yolo COVID-19 Relief Fund and contracts with
Woodland restaurants to create the meals. Father Paddy’s
Irish Public House meals (below) are ready to be distributed,
and Juan Barajas (left in bottom photo), owner of
Savory Cafe, and Rudy Peniche, owner of Las Brasas Tacos &
Salsas, carry packaged meals to a Yolo Food Bank truck.
