SCOE partners with various local and state resources to assist students with
intellectual and/or physical disabilities in developing work and life skills that
fit each individual’s unique needs and abilities. Workforce development also
includes student-driven microenterprises and work experience for students in
businesses across Solano County.
Solano County Office of Education’s Work-Ready Certificate program for
students provides over twenty hours of work-related instruction and support.
The program helps prepare students for the labor force, locate job opportunities,
learn interview skills, perform mock interviews, develop a resume, and learn
work ethic. Students completing the program are better prepared to earn and
keep a job.
Solano County Office of Education partners with UC Davis C-STEM (Computing-
Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Solano Community College,
Genentech, and service organizations to host free C-STEM Girls in Robotics
Leadership (GIRL) camps in Solano County. Numerous studies and surveys
have noted that the C-STEM fields have remained predominantly male with
low participation among women. GIRL camps are focused on motivating young
women to learn computing and STEM concepts through a fun robotics and Arduino based curriculum. Camps spark
interest and confidence in C-STEM that will open up opportunities that stay with campers throughout their lives.
Solano Students are
Skilled & Prepared
We believe that a
quality education and a
strong public education
system is critical to
the social fabric and
economic vitality of
Solano County. Our six
school districts offer
students a broad range
of career exploration
and skill development opportunities.
Solano K-14 Career Technical Education
(CTE) pathway programs are relevant,
engaging, and provide students
with K-14 streamlined preparation to
enter Solano Community College by
successfully completing: 1) a K-14 CTE
pathway and/or 2) high school to college
course articulation agreements. CTE
students receive a continuous firstclass
education via robust CTE courses
within industry-aligned pathways
and certifications. Career exploration
programs help prepare students to
succeed in a global economy, and inspire
them to become active and productive
citizens in their communities.
