is to help find them a job,” says Bryant.
“This provides the opportunity to be
empowered to create their future.” In
addition to sustainable income, clients
receive trauma-informed counseling,
consultations with a dedicated social
worker, transportation resources,
childcare, and other support.
“We’re socially innovative in how
we address exploitation,” explains
Bryant. “We have implemented the
PROTECT Prevention program in 34
of our 58 California counties, with the
goal to raise that total to 45 by the end
of 2019. Governor Brown signed our
co-sponsored bill, AB 1227 into law,
the first of its kind in the nation. AB
1227 mandates the training of teachers
and the educating of students on
human trafficking. With the EMPLOY
+ EMPOWER program, we have served
118 survivors and at-risk individuals
with the goal of connecting 60 more
with jobs by the end of the year.”
3Strands aims to expand into all
58 California counties and eventually
across the nation with PROTECT
Prevention Education, and to grow
EMPLOY + EMPOWER to two additional
greater Sacramento counties and an
additional state.
“A big challenge is the lack
of understanding about human
trafficking,” confirms Bryant. “Because
of the dark nature of human trafficking,
people don’t always want to discuss
the topic. We are solution driven and
focus on HOPE, making an impact
one individual at a time. Together, we
can create a world free from human
trafficking. Please stand with us.”
