To Comradeship
The Comrades Marathon was established in 1921
to maintain the camaraderie that had developed
amongst troops who had fought together in the First
World War (1914-18), and the race was named in
honour of the ex-soldiers association, ‘Comrades of the
Great War’, under whose auspices it was organised.
That is why camaraderie has always played such an
