Access to the following roads will be affected on the day of the race( Sunday 14 June), with rolling closures starting from midnight onwards and continuing with rolling reopenings as the event passes through areas between Durban and Pietermaritzburg. Local residents, businesses, spectators and the community at large are urged to plan around these route restrictions, and use alternative roads and parking wherever possible.

The Comrades Marathon Association( CMA), in collaboration with local traffic authorities, will make every effort to reopen affected roads as soon as safely possible to do so. This will be dictated by operational, safety and event-related requirements, including the last runners clearing sections of the route and clean-up crews passing through to remove race infrastructure.

The CMA would like to thank all affected communities for their patience and understanding on race day.
