Everything you need to know about crossing the finish line of the 2026 Comrades Marathon and making the most of your post-race experience at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse.

1 FINISH VENUE
The 2026 Comrades Marathon finishes inside Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg, where thousands of runners, supporters, volunteers and club members will come together to celebrate another unforgettable edition of The Ultimate Human Race.
2 OFFICIAL FINISH TIME
Official finishing times are recorded by the Comrades Marathon electronic timing system in conjunction with ASA Technical Officials. Once across the finish line, runners will proceed through the finish chutes to receive their medal and badge.
Important: Timing chips must be worn throughout the race. No chip, no result.
3 MEDALS
Official Finishers will be awarded a medal in accordance with their position and / or finishing time:
• Gold – First 10 Men and Women
• Wally Hayward( Men) – Position 11 to 5:59:59
• Isavel Roche-Kelly( Women) – Position 11 to 6:59:59
• Silver( Men) – 6:00:00 to 7:29:59
• Silver( Women) – 7:00:00 to 7:29:59
• Bill Rowan – 7:30:00 to 8:59:59
• Robert Mtshali – 9:00:00 to 9:59:59
• Bronze – 10:00:00 to 10:59:59
• Vic Clapham – 11:00:00 to 11:59:59
Runners who completed their first Comrades Marathon in 2025 and successfully finish again in 2026 will receive a Back-to-Back Medal in recognition of consecutive finishes.

4 BACK-TO-BACK MEDALS
5 GREEN NUMBERS
Participants earning a Green, Double Green, Triple Green, Quadruple Green or Quintuple Green Number will be directed to the dedicated Green Number Tent
immediately beyond the finish chutes to receive their award. Green Numbers are awarded to athletes who have completed the Comrades Marathons 10 or more times, recognising their outstanding commitment and contribution to The Ultimate Human Race.
Green Number runners are also invited to enjoy the dedicated Green Number Club Hospitality Area within the finish precinct, where they can relax, reconnect with fellow Green Number legends and celebrate their achievement.
6 YOUR FINISH JOURNEY
Crossing the finish line is only the beginning of the celebrations. After receiving their medal and badge, runners will:
• Enjoy a refreshing bottle of Thirsti water.
• Ring the Thirsti PB Bell if they have achieved a Comrades personal best.
• Make a complimentary emergency call from the Cell C Phone Booth if required.
• Enter the Runner Chill Zone.
• Enjoy soup and a Coca-Cola refreshment.
• Collect their tog bags.
• Exit into the vibrant Finish Precinct.
Located immediately outside the Runner Chill Zone are the Official Rub Tent, Planet Fitness Recovery Zone and Rexona Novice Hospitality Area. From there, runners can reconnect with family and friends, visit club hospitality sites and gazebos, explore food vendors, or simply soak up the atmosphere of one of South Africa’ s greatest sporting celebrations.
7 TOG BAG COLLECTION
The Biddulphs Removals Tog Bag Service will transport bags deposited at the start or during Race Pack Collection to the finish venue. The collection point is situated on the right-hand side just before exiting the Runner Chill Zone. A tog bag voucher must be presented when collecting your bag. Important: No voucher, no collection.
Please note: While all reasonable efforts will be made to protect your personal property, neither the CMA, Biddulphs Removals nor any of their respective staff, Board Members, representatives, sponsors, partners or volunteers will accept any liability for any loss or damage incurred by a participant subsequent to their delivery of a tog bag to the Tog Bag Service. Please do not leave any valuables in your bags.
