Situated alongside the Comrades Marathon route, the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust( HACT) has been a sanctuary of hope for over 35 years to those facing the devastating impact of HIV and AIDS, poverty, and life-threatening illness. At the heart of our work is Othandweni – which means place of love – our 24-bed in-patient unit offering free, high-quality palliative and hospice care to those in the final stages of AIDS or cancer. Meanwhile, our empowerment and education programmes equip people with skills and income-generating opportunities, strengthening their independence and building self-reliance, as well as helping to raise resilient youth who promote healthy living and lead their communities with hope.

Rise Against Hunger is a global organisation dedicated to the distribution of food and life-saving aid to communities. A cornerstone of this work is early childhood development support, embodied in our ECD Connect programme, which provides meals that build a vital foundation for children’ s future wellbeing. The organisation also focuses on meal packaging events, efficient food distribution networks, and crucial nutrition education. Furthermore, the organisation responds to emergencies by mobilising rapid response efforts during times of crisis. Beyond immediate relief, Rise Against Hunger is committed to empowering communities by implementing sustainable solutions, such as agricultural training and livelihood programmes designed to overcome food insecurity.
